    USACE Galveston District begins jetty repair work at South Padre Island, Texas

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, began work on a $14.5 million jetty repair project at the entrance to the Brownsville Ship Channel with scheduled completion in 2014.

    USACE Galveston District awards $3.6 million contract to dredge Freeport Harbor channel

    GALVESTON, Texas (May 17, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, awarded a contract in the amount of $3,600,200 to Mike Hooks Inc., for maintenance dredging of the Freeport inside channel and turning basins in Brazoria County, Texas.

    USACE Galveston District completes $39.9 million U.S. Border Patrol Station in Kingsville, Texas

    GALVESTON, Texas (May 3, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District completed the $39.9 million design-build U.S. Border Patrol Station project in Kingsville, Texas, and will celebrate this milestone with the Border Patrol’s Rio Grande Valley Sector during a grand opening ceremony May 8, 2013.

    USACE Galveston District’s public affairs team earns communication award

    GALVESTON, Texas (May 2, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District’s Sandra Arnold, APR+M, chief of the Public Affairs Office, and Deputy Public Affairs Chief Isidro Reyna, APR, were recognized with a first place USACE 2012 Locke L. Mouton Award for excellence in the category of Command Information. The award honors public affairs practitioners for superior achievement and promotes outstanding efforts in public affairs activities.

Ruffennach Communicator of the Year. The award recognizes a member of the USACE outside of the public affairs career field for his/her outstanding contributions in communicating the USACE missions and programs.

    GALVESTON, Texas (April 26, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a small business contract to Apollo Environmental Strategies Inc., in the amount of $3,750,050 to construct a rock containment perimeter at the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) adjacent to the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge in Calhoun County, Texas.
