    MATAGORDA COUNTY, Texas (Aug. 19, 2014) – Five years ago the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District and Port of Bay City partnered on the study and new construction of an east jetty at the Mouth of the Colorado River to stabilize the shallow draft navigation channel and reduce maintenance dredging requirements. Today, that infrastructure plays an integral part in saving taxpayers approximately $200,000 annually in dredging costs and keeps a segment of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway open for navigation.

  • USACE Galveston District offers federally-funded programs to assist with coastal projects

    GALVESTON, Texas (Aug. 18, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District offers a variety of federal programs to assist the public with the preparation of comprehensive plans for the development, use and conservation of water and related land resources along the Texas coast. These programs are either available on a 50 percent federal/50 percent non-federal cost-shared basis or offered free of charge.

  • USACE Galveston District awards $6.35 million contract to dredge Sabine-Neches Waterway

    GALVESTON, Texas (Aug. 13, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract in the amount of $6,350,950 to Manson Construction Co., for maintenance dredging of the Sabine-Neches Waterway, Port Arthur Canal, Junction and Taylors Bayou in Jefferson County, Texas.

  • USACE Galveston District awards $242,755 contract for hydrographic sweep system

    GALVESTON, Texas (Aug. 13, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract in the amount of $242,755.16 to Ross Labs LLC., for a multi-channel hydrographic sweep system for hydrographic surveying for the Rio Grande Valley Resident Office, Port Isabel, Texas.

  • USACE Galveston District awards $3.6 million contract to dredge Sabine-Neches Waterway

    GALVESTON, Texas (Aug. 8, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a maintenance dredging contract in the amount of $3,646,550 to Manson Construction Co., for maintenance dredging of the Sabine-Neches Waterway, Sabine Pass Outer Bar and bank channel in Jefferson County, Texas and Cameron Parish, Louisiana.

  • WRRDA 14 listening session webinars for public input

    GALVESTON, Texas (Aug. 7, 2014) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a series of listening sessions (via webinar) for public input regarding the agency’s implementation of the Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2014 (WRRDA 14). Each of the listening sessions will cover a different aspect of the general program policy provisions of WRRDA 14.

    GALVESTON, Texas (Aug. 5, 2014) – While all new permanent facilities constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District require Leadership in Energy & Environment Design (LEED) Silver certification standards to be incorporated into design plans, existing buildings do not – which often creates challenges in meeting sustainability and energy efficient goals for those districts that maintain aging infrastructure such as the Galveston District’s Jadwin Building.
