    JOINT PUBLIC NOTICE: Draft Detailed Project Report & Environmental Assessment for the proposed USACE Galveston Island Coastal Erosion Study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District (USACE), in partnership with the City of Galveston, has prepared a Draft Detailed Project Report and Environmental Assessment (DDPR-EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Galveston Island Coastal Erosion, Galveston, Texas, continuing authorities study as authorized by Section 204 of the Water Resources Development Act of 2016. The USACE prepared the DDPR-EA to determine the feasibility of employing Beneficial Use of Dredged Material measures for coastal storm risk management on Galveston beaches to benefit coastal communities and public infrastructure.

    The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District is inviting all affected federal, state, and local agencies, affected Native American Tribes, other interested parties, and the general public to review and comment on the Port of Corpus Christi Authority’s (PCCA) Channel Deepening Project Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for Department of the Army Permit SWG-2019-00067.

    USACE Galveston District will be knocking on doors in Jefferson County to secure-Rights-of-Entry

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District, Real Estate Division will be going door-to-door in Port Arthur on June 30 to secure rights-of-entry (ROE) from individual landowners in order to access property as part of the Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay (S2G), Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM) and Ecosystem Restoration Program.

    The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District is publishing a notice of availability for the Port of Corpus Christi Authority’s (PCCA) Channel Deepening Project Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for Department of the Army Permit SWG-2019-00067. USACE invites all affected federal, state, and local agencies, affected Native American Tribes, other interested parties, and the general public to participate in the (National Environmental Policy Act) NEPA process during the review and comment of the DEIS.

    Wallisville Lake Project, Waterfowl Management Program is accepting seasonal duck blind drawing submissions

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District, Wallisville Lake Project, Waterfowl Management Program is accepting seasonal duck blind drawing submissions by mail from May 1 to June 30 for the upcoming 2022/2023 waterfowl hunting season. A total of 50 seasonal duck blind construction permits will be offered along with 20 standby positions, for this upcoming season. Applicants may only apply for the duck blind drawing by mailing a 3 by 5 white notecard containing their name, address, telephone number and email.  Notecards must be mailed to Wallisville Lake Project Attn: Duck Blind Drawing P.O. Box 293 Wallisville, TX 77597.  Applicants are encouraged to purchase delivery confirmation to ensure their application was received, as there will be no way for the Project Office to confirm receipt once the notecard is placed into the drawing bin.

    Galveston District hosting Small Business Industry Days

    SAVE THE DATES: Join the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District, the Velasco Drainage District, and the Jefferson County Drainage District No. 7 for TWO Industry Days where we will teach small businesses how to navigate the Federal contracting process in support of work opportunities for the Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay (S2G) Freeport and Port Arthur Projects.

    Galveston District, Jefferson County sign design agreement

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District and Jefferson County, signed a design agreement (DA) March 21 for the Jefferson County Ecosystem Restoration Project. The project was authorized by Congress in 2020 at an initial total project cost of $60M, which includes design and construction costs.

    Galveston District, will start releases from Addicks reservoir to take flow measurements April 5

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District, in coordination with the United States Geological Survey (USGS), will start releases from Addicks reservoir tomorrow to take flow measurements through the new outlet structures and will continue through April 6.

    USACE receives millions in Federal funding for Ports of Brownsville, Corpus Christi, Galveston and Houston

    More funding is on the way for several ship channel improvement projects in Texas, including the Brazos Island Harbor (Port of Brownsville), the Corpus Christi Ship Channel (Port of Corpus Christi Authority), the Galveston Harbor and Channel (Port of Galveston), and the Houston Ship Channel (Port of Houston). The Biden Administration announced March 29, that it will invest more than $2.7 billion in funding to [300] Army Corps projects throughout the country focused on strengthening ports and waterways in addition to other funding already received by the ports for projects. The Biden Administration is invested a total of nearly $17 billion in new funding and other supplemental appropriations in fiscal year 2022 and 2023 for over 800 projects across 55 states and territories.
